The route

We leave Brussels on the E19 towards Mons, cross the border at Quiévrain and take the A2 then the A1 to Paris. The tricky part is not the motorway but the arrival: the Paris ring road and the A1 to CDG are heavily congested on weekdays from 7 to 10 am and 4 to 8 pm. For a flight from CDG or Orly, we set the departure time with that margin built in.

Stops on the way

Over 3 h 30 on the road, a stop is possible on request: a motorway rest area for the children, a detour to an address in Mons or Valenciennes, picking up a second passenger on the way. Tell us when booking so we can plan for it.

Who is this trip for?

  • Cancelled train, strike, missed connectionWhen the Eurostar (formerly Thalys) is cancelled or fully booked, or a strike stops French rail, a car is the only way to reach Paris the same day.
  • A flight from Paris-CDG or OrlyA cheaper long-haul fare from Paris, or a route Brussels Airport doesn't fly: we drop you at the terminal with your bags, no change at Paris-Nord.
  • Family trip to Disneyland ParisPushchair, suitcases, child seats on request: the car goes right to the park hotel in Marne-la-Vallée, no RER across Paris.
  • Business meeting in ParisOut in the morning, waiting on site or back in the evening at the time that suits you, VAT invoice for your company.

Taxi, train or coach?

To be fair: travelling alone, light, centre to centre, the Eurostar from Brussels-Midi to Paris-Nord in 1 h 25 is faster and often cheaper. Coaches (FlixBus, BlaBlaCar Bus) take about 4 hours. A taxi wins elsewhere:

  • Door to doorNo Brussels-Midi, no Paris metro with luggage: from your address to your exact destination.
  • On the day the train doesn't runStrike, breakdown, sold-out train: we still leave, at the time you choose.
  • In a group, the maths changesFour last-minute train tickets quickly cost as much as a whole car — especially with a van for up to 7 passengers.
  • Straight to the airportDirect TGVs from Brussels to CDG are few; to Orly there are none.
